Institute of Forensic Science Rajasthan
Cyber forensics encompasses a wide range of techniques and methodologies that aid in reconstructing digital crime scenes and determining the circumstances surrounding cyber-related incidents. The Cyber Forensics Laboratory is a specialized facility designed to train students in forensic science, focusing on the investigation and analysis of digital evidence in criminal cases involving technology. This laboratory trained students with the skills necessary to collect, preserve, and examine digital evidence from various sources, including computers, mobile devices, and networks.
The laboratory is equipped with advanced tools and technologies that enhance the learning experience and prepare students for practical applications in forensic investigations.
Students will participate in various activities designed to enhance their practical knowledge, including:
Digital Evidence Collection: Hands-on training for collection and preservation of digital evidence from various sources, including live systems and seized devices.
Data Acquisition and Imaging: Performing forensic imaging of digital media using write-blockers and specialized software to create forensically sound copies.
Data Analysis: Analyzing digital evidence using forensic tools, including file system analysis, keyword searching, and data carving.
Malware Analysis: Investigating and analyzing malware samples in a controlled virtual environment to determine their behaviour and impact.
Incident Response Scenarios: Participating in simulated cyber incidents and applying incident response methodologies to investigate, contain, and eradicate threats.
Expert Testimony Preparation: Training in how to present digital evidence in court and respond to cross-examination as an expert witness.
The laboratory is equipped with a variety of tools and technologies essential for cyber forensics, including:
Forensic Workstations
Forensic Imaging Tools
