The PG Diploma in Forensic Science and Criminology is a one-year postgraduate diploma program that provides comprehensive knowledge of the scientific investigation of crimes. Through a blend of theoretical coursework and practical, students will develop critical thinking and analytical skills that are vital for careers in law enforcement, legal consultancy, and forensic analysis.
A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as science, medicine, pharmacy, law, or engineering with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks from any recognized institute/University for General/OBC(NCL)/EWS category candidates, and 45 % for SC/ST/PwD Candidates.
Upon successful completion of the PG Diploma in Forensic Science and Criminology student will achieve the following outcomes:
1) In-depth understanding of various forensic science disciplines, including biology, chemistry, and toxicology, and their application in legal contexts.
2) Expertise in the methods for effectively managing and investigating crime scenes, including evidence collection, preservation, and documentation.
3) Ability to apply criminological theories to analyze and understand criminal behaviour, patterns, and motivations.
4) Proficiency in interpreting forensic evidence and integrating it with criminological insights to build robust legal arguments.
5) Awareness of how forensic evidence impacts legal proceedings and the ability to navigate its use within legal frameworks.
6) Understanding of ethical issues and legal standards related to forensic science and criminology, ensuring integrity and objectivity in practice.
7) Capability to use forensic and criminological knowledge to develop effective legal strategies and case approaches.
